Weekly update ( 25th to 29th Jan)


Unit of inquiry
  • Guest lecture by Mr. & Mrs.Chandorkar on systems (designing of buildings,Oberoi Garden City) and reflection in the class.
  • Video on Brasilia ( by Mr.Alex) and students use a template to plan their city . They used De Bono's yellow thinking hat to analyse 'Brasilia'.

Language Arts
  • Students start working on their second persuasive letter using the writing process.
  • Spellings in their spelling groups.
  • Mini lesson on regular and irregular verbs.
  • Reading of the book 'Dear Mrs.LaRue-Letters from Obedience School'.
Math
  • Students continue to practice division. They learn how to check their division answers.
  • Students are introduced to division word problems.
  • Formative assessment of division strategies.

Weekly Update ( 18th - 22nd Jan)



Unit of Inquiry
  • Class discussion on systems which the students think are needed and the ones which are wanted in our community.
  • Guest lecture by Ms.Shilpa Yashroy on systems which are present in Saudi Arabia.
  • Student's reflected on the guest lecture and had a class discussion on the factors which affect systems in Saudi Arabia.
  • Field trip to KidZania where the students got an hands on experience of how systems work in different organisations.
Language Arts
  • Students work on their second draft of Persuasive writing.
  • Students are introduced to different parts of a letter.
  • Students write a persuasive letter using the writing process.
  • Spellings in their spelling groups.

Math
  • Students are introduced to the strategy of long division.
  • Students practice long division.

Weekly update (11th to 15th Jan)


Unit of Inquiry
  • Students break up the central idea of the unit.
  • Students identify  various systems in our community. They use grafio app to  make mind map on the same.
  • Class discussion on systems in school which are need and want based.
  • Field trip to Whistling Woods to learn about the working of different systems in the institution.

Math
  • Students practice the fact family related to multiplication and division.
  • Students are introduced to chunking strategy to do division.
  • Students practice chunking strategy.
Language Arts
  • Students learn to present their opinion supported by valid reasons for persuasive writing.
  • Students started the prewriting and drafting stages of writing a persuasive paragraph.
  • Students are introduced to opinion sentence starters.

Weekly Update (4th Jan to 8th Jan)

Unit of Inquiry
  • Students were introduced to the new unit through tuning in activities. 
  • Students identified the different systems functioning in their class and school.
  • Students chose a system in the school that they wanted to know more about and interviewed the concerned people.
Math
  • Students were introduced to division with the help of manipulative.
  • Division strategies introduced: Sharing equally; Repeated subtraction; Using multiplication facts to do division,fact family.
Language Arts
  • Students were introduced to persuasive writing. The students identified the features of persuasive writing through read aloud and class discussions.
  • Introduction to debates in groups.
  • Spelling- different groups of students did different spelling strategies.
