Unit of Inquiry

• Students did experiments to understand density of liquids.
• Introduction to changes in the states of matter ( evaporation, condensation, melting, freezing)
• Preparation for SLC.

Language Arts

• Integration with UOI- Students wrote their 2nd science experiment.
• Students were introduced to writing directions using transition words.
• Literature circles in their groups.

Math

• Introduction to standard units for measuring length- millimetre and centimetre.
• Introduction to tools for measuring length like rulers, measuring tapes.
• Students worked on making their Math games.

Weekly Update (7th Mar to 11th Mar)

Important information : 

• Swimming unit in P.E. starts from 14th March
• SLC on 18th March

Unit of Inquiry

• We did experiments to understand the properties of mass and volume of solids and liquids.
• Videos on properties of gas were shown to the students and they reflected on them.
•  Students were introduced to the concept of density.
• Students practiced for SLC.

 Language Arts

• Integration with UOI- Students were introduced to writing science experiments.
• Students conferred with the teachers for their third draft (recipe).
• Read to self.
• Spellings were done in the respective groups.

Math

• Introduction to non standard methods of measuring weight.
• Introduction to standard units of measuring weight- grams and kilograms.
• Conversion of kilograms to grams.

Other activities:

• Class photo shoot for the Year book.
• Students saw skits/play performed by grade 6  students.
• Preparation for SLC.

• Students watched videos on matter. Introduction to molecular structure of matter.
• Students did different activities/experiments to understand the properties of matter.

• Formative assessment of Fractions.
• Students continued to build their understanding of decimals.
• Introduction to non standard methods of measurement.

Language Arts

• Students in their Literature circles practiced different comprehension strategies.
• Students wrote their first and second draft of Procedural writing and conferred with teachers.
