Unit of Inquiry

  • Reflection on the unit Systems.
  • Tuning in of the new unit on Matter:KWL, making inquiry questions.
  • Read aloud-book on Matter.

Math
  • Students continued practicing equivalent fractions.
  • Introduction to fraction word problems.
  • Introduction to decimals.

Language Arts
  • Tuning in for the new genre of writing- Procedural writing.
  • Reading- read to self and reading reflection.
  • Ms.Esther read a Chinese story to the students on Read Aloud Day.

Weekly update (15th to 18th Feb)


Unit of inquiry

  • Continuation of Systems summative task.
Math
  • Students continued practicing comparing fractions.
  • Students were introduced to equivalent fractions.
  • Summative assessment of multiplication and division.
Language Arts
  • Students worked in their literature circles.
  • Students published their final letter and marked themselves on the rubric.

Weekly Update ( 8th-12th Feb)


Unit of Inquiry

  • Summative assessment for the unit was started. The students were introduced to a broken city and they analysed the issues and gave suggestions for improvement. They were divided in groups and they planned their own city.

Math
  • Students practiced shading and writing fractions- one half,one-fourth.
  • Students were introduced to 'how to compare fractions'.
Language Arts
  • Students did spellings in their spelling groups.
  • Students did Literature circles in their respective groups.
  • Students chose the persuasive letter that they want to publish and did revising and editing.

Weekly update (1st Feb to 5th Feb)

Unit of inquiry


  • Through class discussion students analysed the traffic system of Mumbai,factors responsible and our responsibility.
  • Guest lecture by Mr.Sawant on systems in Pescafresh and its reflection by students.
  • Students were given a reading material on 'Smart City' and they demonstrated their understanding of the same in their notebooks.

Math
  • Students practiced word problems related to division.
  • Introduction to fractions.
Language Arts
  • Students watched a story ' Hey, Little Ant'. In their groups they chose an opinion and discussed the reasons for the same. As a group they wrote a letter to the boy in the story.
  • Students practiced writing persuasive letter on a topic of their choice.
  • Continuation and practice of irregular verbs.
